To Twitter or not to Twitter

Last night at my writers meeting WIP Shannon hosted a presentation on social media. Lucky for us Poul brought a huge flat screen so we could all gather around and view the process of venturing into the world of Twitter, Facebook, Tumbler, Four Square, and a few other words such as After Draft, but don't quote me, I just made notes. Mandy baked a wonderful fall crisp and we dug in like hungry wolves.

I'm familiar with Facebook, but the dreaded Twitter has been rearing its ugly head for awhile and I've tried to hide from facing the reality of learning this tricky means of networking.

My son has been twittering for a long time and as all techies will, they just whip out their device enter a few characters, smile and then continue on in the vein of the conversation you were having as if nothing happened. Now don't get me wrong, I love my son, but I can't ask him to teach me anything, because he thinks I'm lame when it comes to learning these highly advanced state of the art technological gadgets. (He has forgotten I recently managed a state of the art 6 million dollar building in Vancouver) However when it comes to learning something technical, I can't follow him and he gets just a little frustrated with questions? Questions? - and more questions. Love you Gary.

I also learned how to make a blog and begin the process of using it to foster my writing habits, networking, sneaking in pages for critique. Perhaps it will be my lead in every day to begin the process of finishing that first draft. Stay tuned for a copy of my dust cover and date of publication!

Thanks for last nights very informative night!
